With 5.9 million tourists visiting the Gulf island nation, Bahrain has registered a strong growth of 51 pc in arrivals as compared to the same period in the previous year. The Indian market performed the strongest, with an 87 pc surge in visitor numbers.

According to data released by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) recently, the tiny island nation, a member of the Gulf Coordination Council (GCC), tourism has registered a very strong growth in tourist arrivals in the first six months of the current year.

BTEA says a total of 5.9 million visitors arrived in Bahrain in the period January-June 2023, a rise of 51 pc over the 3.9 million tourists that had visited during the first six months of 2022. BTEA says that this substantial surge in arrivals emphasises Bahrain’s growing attraction as a premier tourist destination.

Amongst the source markets, India stands out for its exceptional performance, as the number of Indian tourists visiting Bahrain in the first half of the current year rose 87 pc over the previous year. BTEA says that the number of Indian visitors soared to 5,04,173 in H1, 2023 compared to 2,69,302 for the same period in 2022, showcasing the substantial growth in this tourist segment.
