Catering to a soaring demand for creating a comprehensive and affordable student fare and payment plan, MakeMyTrip has teamed up with nine top airlines and banking partners for students travelling abroad.

As the new academic year approaches, India’s largest online travel agency MakeMyTrip has tied up with key stakeholders, including airlines, banks, discounted forex cards and travel accessories brands for students travelling abroad to find smart and easy travel solutions. In a press statement, MakeMyTrip says that this first-of-its-kind offering can be accessed from the flight’s funnel on the platform.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of Indian students migrate abroad to pursue their academic ambitions. MakeMyTrip says that as students typically travel for longer periods of time, therefore their needs differ from those of an average traveller. To cater to this demand in creating a comprehensive and affordable student fare and payment plan, MakeMyTrip has teamed up with nine top airlines, including Air France, Air Mauritius, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Thai Airways and Vistara, as well as banking partners. This ensures a hassle-free and cost-efficient travel experience and includes free baggage allowance, it says.

“Our goal is to ensure every travel use case finds a comprehensive solution on our platform. We are delighted that this integrated offering will lead to economy and convenience for the student cohort travelling abroad, especially to destinations such as the USA, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand,” says Saujanya Shrivastava, Chief Operating Officer of Flights, Holidays & Gulf Cooperation Council at MakeMyTrip.

To make the pay-out for ticket fares easier on the wallet, students can avail of a flat 12 pc discount, up to INR 10,000, along with interest-free EMI options for three and six months when using American Express, Axis Bank, Citibank, and ICICI debit/credit cards. The plan also offers students BookMyForex Cards without any service or delivery charges, and an additional 1 pc cashback on the purchase of foreign currency during the offer period. A 50-70 pc discount is also bundled in on leading travel accessories brands to help students travel in style, the statement adds.
