German National Tourist Office India will be participating in the upcoming 50th Germany Travel Mart (GTM), set to take place from April 21 to 23 in Chemnitz, the cultural heart of Germany.

In a press statement, GNTO says that in this year’s GTM, a select group of trade professionals and media personnel from India will journey through Germany’s towns and cities, engaging in a Pre-Convention Tour (PCT) starting April 17 to then attend the main event in Chemnitz.

GNTO India says that GTM 2024 will provide an opportunity for media and travel agents to blend business networking opportunities with cultural immersion.

The tourism promotion organisation says that with sustainability as the prime focus, the event will highlight the best of Germany’s green initiatives, encouraging participants to explore the country’s offerings through a lens of responsible tourism.

“As we mark the 50th anniversary of the Germany Travel Mart, we are not just celebrating the legacy of this prestigious event but also paving the way for a future where travel is more sustainable, immersive, and culturally enriching,” says Romit Theophilus, Director of Marketing and Sales Office, India at the GNTO.

The statement adds that this delegation will get to experience first-hand the rich tapestry of German heritage, with a special focus on UNESCO sites and the Feel Good initiative, which encourages visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture and extend their stay.

“This year, from the vibrant city of Chemnitz, we invite our Indian partners to explore Germany’s treasures through our themes of UNESCO and Feel Good, and to embrace the joy of slow travel and the luxury of longer stays,” adds Theophilus.

The board adds in line with the themes of sustainability and eco-friendly travel, this year’s GTM emphasises the promotion of train travel as a prime mode of transportation, showcasing Germany’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
