Bangkok-based luxury hotel owner Minor Hotels is enhancing its footprint in Brazil with its second Anantara ecoresort property, slated for launch in 2026.

In a press statement, Minor Hotels says that the Anantara Preá Ceará Resort is to be situated in the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará, on Preá Beach and close to the tourist destination of Jericoacoara. The resort will be accessible through the regional airport of Jericoacoara that is situated just 15 minutes’ away, or transfers can be arranged by car or small plane to Preá from the state’s main airport in Ceará which is 300 km from the resort.

To be constructed as part of the premium Vila Carnaúba residential development, Anantara Preá has been designed to offer visitors access to all of Vila Carnaúba’s amenities, including its bars and restaurants, gym, kids club, kitesurfing school, and various nature trails, adds the statement.

“In 2022 we announced our luxury Anantara brand’s first hotel in Brazil, with Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort scheduled to open in 2025. We are excited to follow this with the announcement of a second Anantara in the country, demonstrating our commitment to expanding our footprint in Brazil with quality projects focused on preserving nature and the surrounding landscapes. We look forward to working closely with Grupo Carnaúba to bring this new Anantara resort to fruition,” says Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International.

The statement adds that the new resort is being constructed together with Grupo Carnaúba  and the alliance intends to enhance the local real estate market by introducing the Anantara brand, which offers a luxurious experience to discerning travellers. The project will put a strong emphasis on sustainability, making sure that the area’s natural beauty is maintained along with a positive visitor experience.

A regional restaurant and an Anantara Spa which will offer an extensive range of spa treatments and wellness programmes are also among its priorities, the hotel says. Among its important highlights are 60 guest rooms and villas, 25 branded residential bungalows, some with private pools, and a 120 sqm Presidential Suite.

It goes on to add that sustainable and social initiatives of Vila Carnaúba, which is in the final stages of development, are an essential element of this partnership. These will include waste disposal and recycling, reforestation initiatives, replanting of Carnauba Wax Palm Trees, a fan palm indigenous to northeastern Brazil, along with supporting local food producers. At night there will be reduced lighting to preserve the sky’s panorama and to minimise the impact on the local fauna.

The hotel says that the ecoresort will be based over an area in excess of 52,000 square metres and the project’s design and decor are being created by Miguel Pinto Guimarães, a Brazilian architect well known for his contemporary creations to blend comfort with the natural environment. The landscaping will be developed by Embyá Paisagens & Ecossistemas and construction will focus on natural and regional materials.
