Sharjah, the third largest emirate of the UAE, has been lit up in a colourful display for the emirate’s annual Sharjah Light Festival 2023. According to a press statement, the 12th edition of the extravaganza features dazzling light and music shows designed to shine a light on Sharjah’s main landmarks and prominent architectural features. Organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the event runs until February 19, says the statement.

The details of this year’s edition of the festival were revealed in a press conference held at the Light Village, opposite University City Hall in Sharjah, in the presence of Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman, SCTDA, along with officials and representatives of various government entities, adds the statement.

The statement highlights that the locations that are lit up this year as part of the festival include, University City Hall, Al Noor Mosque, Khalid Lagoon Corniche, Sharjah Mosque, Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Al Hamriyah Municipality building, Al Dhaid Fort, Al Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan, Kalba Clock Tower, Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn, Headquarters of the Beeah Group, The Light Museum and The Light Village.

Every year, the emirate hosts the well-known international artists who have excelled in adapting light and music to present the most beautiful and attractive modern light shows, highlighting the rich components of Sharjah and its splendid landmarks. The light shows vary according to the landmarks they cover, inviting the audience to rediscover these landmarks and places anew, says the statement.
