An annual extravaganza, the Sharjah Light Festival is organised every February.  Displaying the art and heritage of Sharjah with light and sound shows, it is a rather colourful affair. There are performances by international artists and various other celebrations happening around. The 2019 theme highlighted Family and Culture and took place at famous landmarks. For the first time, the festival also took place on the Sharjah lagoon. The carnival style celebrations also had water shows and fireworks.
