Continuing its expansion in the Indian market, Lufthansa, flag carrier of Germany, has launched yet another destination in India, with thrice-weekly flights from Frankfurt to Hyderabad. The flight is operated by the carrier’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The flight to Hyderabad comes months after Lufthansa resumed flights from Munich to Bengaluru in November 2023 as part of its expansion drive in India, which has been progressing rapidly since the end of Covid-19 pandemic.

Both the Munich-Bengaluru and Frankfurt-Hyderabad services are exclusive direct flights between the cities. Now, Lufthansa has flights from Frankfurt to Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai, and from Munich to Delhi and Mumbai. The airline says that India is now its fastest growing major market, with capacity growth exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

“With our new Hyderabad-Frankfurt service we now offer Indian passengers 64 weekly flights to our hubs in Europe and onward connections to the biggest network on the European continent,” says George Ettiyil, senior director South Asia, Lufthansa Group.

“As we launch Hyderabad, our capacity to India has increased by 14 pc, relative to 2019, making it the fastest growing major market for Lufthansa. With Bangalore-Munich and now Hyderabad-Frankfurt services, we have launched two new routes in the past three months, recognising South India’s growing relevance and demonstrating the strong overall importance of India to the Lufthansa Group,” adds Ettiyil.

Lufthansa says that with over 700 employees in India and a legacy of over 60 years in the country, it remains committed to playing an integral role in India’s continued growth story.
