Direct flights between Mumbai and the German city of Frankfurt have been introduced by Indian airline Vistara, the joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. These flights will run six days a week beginning on November 15, according to a press statement by Vistara.

Vistara says that the good response from its 6x weekly service between Delhi and Frankfurt has stimulated the decision to add this new route.

The airline adds that the UK 0027 flight will be scheduled to depart at 1300 hours from Mumbai and arrive at 1730 hours in Frankfurt on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Likewise, on the return leg, the Frankfurt to Mumbai UK 0028 flight is scheduled for departure at 2020 hours, which will arrive at 0910 hours on the same days.

“We are delighted to expand our international network with the launch of this new service between Mumbai and Frankfurt. Our long-haul routes, connecting Delhi with London Heathrow, Paris and Frankfurt have been very popular amongst our customers which gave us the confidence to offer similar connections from Mumbai as well. This will be our second long-haul route from Mumbai, in addition to 5 days-a-week flights to London Heathrow, and we hope that our customers will appreciate having the option of flying with India’s best airline in this sector,” says Vinod Kannan, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara.

The airline says as it expands its global network, Vistara has added this additional long-distance route, substantially improving connection between Europe and India. Vistara will operate its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a three-class cabin configuration, giving passengers the option of flying in Business, Premium Economy or Economy. Bookings for the flights are gradually becoming available across all platforms, including through travel agencies, the Vistara website, and mobile apps.

Vistara says its operations in Mumbai have witnessed remarkable expansion in recent times, especially as a gateway to the airline’s international network. Vistara now connects Mumbai to a total of 12 international destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Dammam, Dhaka, Dubai, Jeddah, London Heathrow, Male, Mauritius, Muscat and Singapore. In the last 12 months, the airline has added many new domestic and international connections from Mumbai leading to an increase of 42 pc in the number of departures, and nearly doubled its employee-strength in the station.

“Over the past couple of years, we have launched several new international routes from Mumbai, especially to the Middle East. This aligns perfectly with our strategy to position Mumbai as a vital hub for international travel,” Kannan adds.
