In order to promote rail travel and the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland, Switzerland Tourism has released a new film for its ongoing I need Switzerland campaign. In a press statement, Switzerland Tourism says that tennis legend and the global brand ambassador for Swiss Tourism Roger Federer teamed up with international comedian, best-selling author, producer and philanthropist Trevor Noah for the ad film after previously working on it with Robert De Niro in 2021 and Anne Hathaway in 2022.

Titled The Ride of a Lifetime, the movie emphasises the panoramic train routes of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland while also showcasing the simplicity and effectiveness of the Swiss Travel System.

The statement adds that directed by the Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper, the film portrays the iconic duo getting ready to take a train as part of a shoot to promote the grand train tour of Switzerland. They soon discover they have boarded the wrong train for Interlaken on a different route, leaving the crew behind. Federer and Noah are left to explore Switzerland on their own and discover they are having a great time. They even make friends with a nice local woman who pays for their tickets, as they journey through the country’s breathtaking landscapes. When they get off, the crew discovers them just in time to put them back on the train they were supposed to be on, but in awe of the Swiss landscapes, the duo run off to catch another scenic train ride on the line instead!

It goes on to say that the path portrayed in the film is a portion of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland, a 1,280-km train that travels through UNESCO World Heritage sites, natural marvels like the Rhine Falls, and mountains like the Jungfraujoch, Titlis, and Matterhorn. The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland connects some of the most charming Swiss cities, like Lucerne, with Alpine villages, like Zermatt.

Switzerland Tourism says that the Swiss Travel Pass is the key to the Swiss public transport network. This one single ticket system can enable the entire tour for visitors. With this pass, which can be purchased for three, four, six, eight or 15 days, travellers can board Swiss trains, buses, trams, and boats.

The statement adds that a worldwide Swiss Travel Pass campaign is currently running to give tourists even more time to see the Grand Rail Tour of Switzerland. When purchasing an eligible Swiss Travel Pass between April 15 and May 14, 2023, up to two additional travel days may be added without further cost.

According to Switzerland Tourism, this is Roger Federer’s third appearance highlighting some of the most breathtaking landscapes, cultural experiences, and traditions of his native Switzerland, raising the bar each time and establishing new benchmarks for national tourism promotion.
