Luxury rail firm Rocky Mountaineer with its glass-domed trains, that travel through Western Canada and the American Southwest, has flagged off the 2024 season with its first trip through the scenic Canadian Rockies.

The first journey of the 2024 season for Rocky Mountaineer has commenced, with the train departing on April 15 from Vancouver station in British Columbia in Canada heading for Banff, a resort town in Alberta.

Rocky Mountaineer, a Canadian rail-tour company based in Vancouver, operates luxury scenic trains on four rail routes in British Columbia and  Alberta in Canada and Colorado and Utah in the United States. It is known around the world for its glass-domed trains travel through Western Canada and the American Southwest, offering all-daylight journeys that showcase some of the most spectacular scenery North America has to offer. 

In a press statement, Rocky Mountaineer lays out the itineraries for the journey. 

On April 15, it started journey First Passage to the West covering Vancouver to Kamloops to Banff. This route travels through the iconic Spiral Tunnels, and the Continental Divide, winding through mountain passes and dramatic canyons. 

In the two-day Journey Through the Clouds on April 16, the route traverses through Vancouver to Kamloops till Jasper. With the mountains stretching to the sky, this route travels through scenic valleys, along the mighty Fraser River, through Hell’s Gate, and past the magnificent Pyramid Falls. This Rocky Mountaineer rail route, only accessible by train, also features the majestic Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

The rail firm adds that on April 25, its Rockies to the Red Rocks route will commence. The journey will pass through Denver in Colorado to Glenwood Springs to reach Moab in Utah, traversing vast canyons, inspiring deserts, natural archways and hoodoos in between Moab, Utah and Denver, Colorado. This Rocky Mountaineer rail route is filled with highlights best seen by train,  including Ruby Canyon, Mount Garfield and crossing the Continental Divide. 

Its Rainforest to Gold Rush route is a mountain mecca of Whistler, the rail firm says. The upcoming journey, which commences on April 27, covers Vancouver to Whistler, Quesnel and Jasper through hidden lakes and canyons and Mount Robson, the Canadian Rockies’ highest peak, all the while revelling in the history of the gold rush. 

The firm adds that for the first time this year, it has partnered with the Moab Music Festival to connect travellers with one of the most anticipated musical events in the Southwest. The special edition package, Sounds in the Southwest will run from September 3 to 11, 2024 offering an eight-night musical travel experience.
