In order to increase the footfalls of Indian visitors, the Embassy of Cuba in New Delhi hosted an event to launch ‘Cuba Unica’ promotional campaign across India.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India, in collaboration with Meliá Hotels International, organised an interactive session to promote destination Cuba in the Indian market.

According to a press statement, more than 40 representatives of travel agencies, national and international airlines, businessmen and newspersons were present on the occasion of the launch, which was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Cuba to India.

The statement adds that Abel Aballe Despaigne, Chargé d’Affaires of the Cuban Embassy made a presentation about the exotic and unique features of Cuba as a tourist destination and launched the promotional campaign “Cuba Única” (Unique Cuba).

According to the organisers, the event was an opportunity to encourage alliances between Indian and Cuban companies for the marketing and commercialisation of the Island touristic products and investments in the tourism sector. Likewise, it was presented the International Tourism Fair FITCUBA 2024, the most important event of the sector in Cuba, which will be held from May 1 to 5.

Tonia Sehan, Head of Sales in India of Melia Hotels International,  presented Meliá’s products in Cuba. Meliá is one of the largest and oldest foreign hotel chains presents in the Caribbean nation, with more than 30 properties.

According to the statement,  over the past few years, Cuba has steady made steps for encouraging the Indian tourism. In February 2024, Cuba participated, for the first time, in a fair of the sector in India with the attendance of a delegation to OTM 2024 Travel Fair, where Cuba received the award for ‘Most Promising New Destination’. Initiatives have been done to promote alliances with agencies, tour operators and advertising agencies for the promotion and marketing of Cuba as a destination.
