As a part of its long term strategy to attract Indian visitors, the City of Athens and the This is Athens CVB showcased itself in the recently held OTM 2024 Mumbai and connected with leading Indian tourism agencies and businesses.

In alignment with its goal to gain momentum in India, the City of Athens and the This is Athens – Convention and Visitors Bureau recently participated in the Indian business-to-business travel trade event OTM India.

According to a press statement by the bureau, the long-term strategy is designed to grow visitor traffic from the Indian tourism market by positioning the city as a destination for leisure and business travellers, MICE, weddings and film productions through the Athens Film Office.

It says that the This is Athens – CVB is implementing a marketing and promotional strategy to attract travellers from India during all seasons of the year, as well as creating a direct air connection.

The City of Athens had a double presence during its first appearance at OTM where team members from This is Athens – CVB were stationed at the booth of the Greek National Tourism Organisation & ETOA

It says that members of the team at This is Athens – CVB travelled to Mumbai to meet with representatives from the Indian tourism market during the Outbound Travel Market (OTM) held from February 8 to 10.

According to the bureau, the City of Athens had a double presence during its first appearance at OTM where team members from This is Athens – CVB were stationed at the booth of the Greek National Tourism Organisation and the booth of the European Tourism Association (ETOA).

ETOA was recognised by OTM for its presence at the exhibition and received the award together with representatives from Athens. The team of This is Athens-CVB held more than 200 meetings to showcase the competitive advantages that have made Athens a top destination for tourism, conferences, and cultural experiences.

The meetings with leading Indian tourism agencies and businesses were targeted with support from Nijhawan Group, the statement adds.

It says that the trip to OTM in Mumbai comes two months after a familiarisation trip that brought 15 travel agents, journalists, and influencers from India to Athens. The trip was organised by the This is Athens – CVB in collaboration with the Athens International Airport.
