Chile-based cruise line Antarctica21 has announced the launch of its newest ship, the Magellan Discoverer, that will be joining its fleet for the 2026-27 Antarctic season. According to press statement by the cruise company, the Magellan Discoverer will be be a sister ship to the Magellan Explorer.
The cruise says it will meet PC6 ice class specifications and will have yacht-like aesthetics, tailored for Antarctic fly-and-sail operations. It can host up to 76 guests in 40 cabins spread over three passenger decks.
According to the cruise line, Magellan Discoverer will feature two family suites for four guests each, two triple deluxe veranda suites, 22 deluxe veranda cabins and six single deluxe veranda cabins.
Antarctica21 says its new ship will also have a wet science lab to support Antarctic research, a sauna and an elevator. It will use a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion and heat-recovery system.
