As China, the largest source market for most countries in the world, remains closed, many nations are looking at India to replace the Asian giant, especially in view of the rapid boom that outbound travel from India has taken place in 2022. Vietnam is one of the countries that is benefitting from the boom in Indian travellers as the number of visas issued for travel to Vietnam has jumped multi-fold and low cost carrier VietJet launching attractively-priced flights from various cities in India to Vietnam.

Seeing the boom, Vietravel, Vietnam’s Largest Aviation and Tourism Corporation, has mounted a roadshow-cum-seminar in India, in collaboration with the Vietnamese embassy in New Delhi. The roadshow, Vietnam – A Splendid Destination is being led by Tran Doan The Duy, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel, and CEO of Vietravel Holidays.

Over 120 travel trade partners participated in roadshow and seminar that was hosted by Vietnam’s Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai at the embassy. In his inaugural address, the Ambassador suggested that it was about time for Indian tourists to visit Vietnam and explore the thousand-year old cultural linkage between the two countries, especially the Cham culture, and the uniqueness of Vietnam’s natural scene with several UNESCO-recognised sites. As Vietnam is less than 5 hours away on direct flights, it has never been easier for Indians to travel to Vietnam.

“You know before pandemic our biggest market was China, but the pandemic happened. And until now, China is completely shut. So, not only Vietnam, I think many countries are now looking for new markets and India is suitable for the followed replacement because India is a very big market. So it’s very important for Vietnam and for our company, we should focus on  promoting Vietnam tourism in India,’’ Tran Doan The Duy of Vietravel told India Outbound.

Vietravel also signed partnership agreements with two key Indian travel trade partners

He adds that he has come to India after successful roadshows in other countries and he is accompanied by several senior officials of Vietravel who will try to boost travel from India to Vietnam further.

In order to expand its footprint and business in India, Vietravel also signed partnership agreements with two key Indian travel trade partners, to cover both inbound and outbound travel from India to Vietnam. “We have signed two MOU’s today. One is for enhanced cooperation for inbound travel where the two companies will cooperate and organise tourism groups from India to Vietnam and the other is vice-versa. We will cooperate in organising groups of Vietnamese travellers to India,’’ he adds.

According to him, India is a rising destination that Vietnamese tourists choose for pilgrimage, healthcare, meditation and yoga. Vietravel believes that season-end promotion activities this year will create a solid foundation to promote bilateral tourism between Vietnam and India, creating a strong opportunity for increasing the number of tourists travelling between the two countries. The success of Vietravel has been proven by bringing many tourist groups by charter flight to India from 2018-2020 and most in February this year, says a press statement.

He says that Vietravel offers a diversity of travel products for many customer market segmentations from affordable to high-class luxury lines. “In particular, we will also provide unbeatable deals for our prestigious partners and agency attendance at this event,’’ he says.

A cultural and culinary gala is also being organised by Vietravel & Vietnam Embassy this evening to showcase traditional cuisines prepared by culinary artisans from the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association (VCCA). In particular, the event will feature a performance of Ao Dai, a traditional Vietnamese music concert, says an official statement.
