Nearly a dozen trade partners from Oman, including hotels, destination management companies as well as the Omani flag carrier Oman Air are part of a team of Oman Tourism stakeholders that has begun a multi-city roadshow in India. The halt on the Indian tour was New Delhi where a large number of Indian tourism professionals turned up to interact with their Omani partners.

“Oman has seen a significant jump in the number of Indian travellers visiting the country this year, making it the second largest market for Oman currently,” Asma Al Hajri, deputy director general in charge of tourism promotion of Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman tells India Outbound. This year from January to July, a total of 167,678 Indian travellers visited Oman, she adds.

To keep the momentum, the Ministry has organised a five-city promotional roadshow in five major source cities in India, from August 22-29. The roadshow will cater to the growing number of tourists looking for unique destinations in Oman, says a press release. Besides New Delhi, the roadshow will cover Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and conclude in Bangalore. The roadshow aims to showcase outstanding experiences in Oman’s unique destinations and promote unique travel experiences for leisure, weddings, conferences and exhibitions.

Oman Tourism roadshow attracted a good footfall from trade partners in New Delhi

“India is one of the most important source markets for the Sultanate of Oman under our marketing and promotional strategy for all target segments. The roadshow will showcase the unique selling points (USPs) of destinations in Oman that will pique their interest to inspire Indian tourists to travel,” Al-Hajri says.

“We also seek to promote the Sultanate as an attractive destination for weddings as this is one of the growing tourism segments, especially for visitors from India. With its pristine nature, picturesque beaches and unique architecture, Oman has seen many Indian weddings for its exceptional capabilities in terms of logistical facilities and accommodation,” she adds.
