Accor has signed an agreement with Worldwide Hotels Group to attach its Mercure brand to the Icon development in Singapore.

The 989-room Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre will become the brand’s largest property worldwide, excluding suites and apartments, when it opens in the first quarter of 2024.

The hotel is located between Singapore’s Chinatown and central business district, and is directly connected to both Chinatown and Telok Ayer stations.

Features will include an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge and bar, a lobby area with centrepiece video wall, a landscaped pool deck, fitness centre and EV charging points. The agreement follows the recent opening of Novotel Singapore on Kitchener, which was also a partnership between Accor and Worldwide Hotels Group.

Accor lists over 30 Singapore properties on its website, including three existing Mercure hotels – Mercure Singapore Bugis, Mercure Singapore Tyrwhitt, and Mercure Singapore On Stevens.

“It is an honour to continue our partnership with Worldwide Hotels Group with the signing of Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre. Mercure hotels stand as gateways to exploration, igniting a sense of local discovery from the very moment guests step through the doors. Being locally inspired is at the heart of the Mercure experience, where each of our hotels boasts a charming character reflective of its neighbourhood. Located in one of the most happening neighbourhoods in Singapore, and with a wealth of world-class exceptional experiences, the hotel demonstrates our shared commitment to providing genuine hospitality experiences,” says Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer for Accor’s Premium, Midscale and Economy Division in Asia.
