ACI recognises airports with the top 20 pc overall satisfaction score by size and region at departure

ACI World, in collaboration with Amadeus, has launched the annual ASQ Awards recognising airports around the world to rank them in terms of customer experience, based on data from ASQ’s departures and arrivals surveys.

In the world’s best airport survey, two out of five spots for airports with over 40 million passengers per year capacity in the Asia-Pacific region have been bagged by Indian airports. This award, handed out by Airports Council International (ACI), a grouping of airport operators from around the world and it recognises airports with the top 20 pc overall satisfaction score by size and region at departure.

According to a press statement by ACI, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, India, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, China, and Incheon International Airport in Incheon, Republic of Korea make up the top three Asia-Pacific airports at departure with over 40 million passengers. Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in Shenzhen, China make up the top five in Airports Council International (ACI) World’s annual ASQ 2023 Awards in airports carrying over 40 million passengers in Asia Pacific region.

ACI says that for Europe, Aeroporto di Roma-Fiumicino in Rome Fiumicino, Italy, and Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain, have been ranked as the best airports with over 40 million passengers per year capacity mark.

ACI says that ASQ Awards, launched in partnership with travel firm Amadeus, recognise airport excellence in customer experience worldwide based on data from ASQ’s renowned Departures and Arrivals Surveys. Launched in 2006, ASQ reports airport passenger satisfaction programme with over 400 participating airports in 109 countries.

The report finds that in Latin America-Carribean, Los Cabos International Airport in Los Cabos, Mexico, Punta Cana International Airport from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Quito International Airport from Quito, Ecuador tops the list in the region’s highest capacity of 5 to 15 million passengers per year mark.

In North America, the United States takes up the top two spots with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Dallas and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta. Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport in Toronto makes up the top three in the above 40 million passengers per year mark, says the ACI survey.

In Africa, under the region’s highest 5 to 15 million passengers per year category, Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco and Marrakech Menara Airport in Marrakech, Morocco top the charts.

Only Muscat International Airport in Oman with 15 to 25 million passengers per year capacity makes it the top airport in the Middle East, finds the report.

It adds that both Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram from India and Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates are the top airports in terms of best arrivals globally.
