The India-Japan Tourism Meet organised in New Delhi on October 24 and 25 was an opportunity to develop the huge tourism potential between the two countries. At the event, Media India Group interviewed Dr Mahesh Sharma, Indian Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, on the strategy to attract more Japanese tourists to India, notably those interested in Buddhist circuits. Ryochi Matsuyama, President of Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), explained how Japan intends to drastically increase the Indian tourist arrival numbers in the coming years as well. Finally, Jyotsna Suri, Immediate Past President, FICCI, and Chairperson & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels (that runs the luxury hotels chain ‘The Lalit’), pointed out the various upcoming steps in the cross-promotion of inbound and outbound tourism between India and Japan.
