The 2024 edition of WTM Latin America concluded in São Paulo with about 8.1 pc surge in participation at 29,247 attendees and 797 exhibitors.

World Travel Market (WTM) Latin America’s 2024 edition has concluded at Expo Centre Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, and all metrics, from visitor entries to exhibition space, have increased.

According to a press statement by the WTM organisers, a total of 29,247 participants attended the show, an increase of 8.1 pc over the 27,044 attendees in 2023.

The highlight of the edition, the organisers say, was the launch of the Diversity Route, which showcased 20 projects led by different exhibitors in three distinct segments, Afrotourism, LGBTQIAP+ Tourism and Tourism 60+.

They say that 797 exhibiting brands represented a 28 pc growth compared to the previous edition, occupying 7,393 sqm of the pavillions, a 20 pc increase in commercial area.

The number of confirmed meetings through the ConnectMe platform increased by 8.5 pc, from 6,358 in 2023 to 6,903 in 2024, the statement adds.

The three theatres hosted 54 conferences and training sessions, in addition to the ‘highly attended’ Speed Networking sessions with international hosted buyers, national buyers and digital influencers.

“We want to encourage great projects, and this was the first step to give visibility to companies that are doing well in different communities and segments in the travel industry,” says Bianca Pizzolito, Head of WTM Latin America.

The statement adds that some of the show’s highlights included the debut participation of many companies, destinations and airlines, including the Tanzania Tourist Board, Belize Tourism Board (BTB), TAAG Angola Airlines, Cayman Island and Guatemala, and the return of the airlines Gol, Azul/Smiles and LATAM/Delta.

WTM Latin America also welcomed delegates from Nicaragua, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Uruguay, Barbados, Cuba, Costa Rica, Belize, Italy, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Maldives, Tanzania and the United States, as well as private companies from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

There was a massive representation from the Brazilian states, including newcomers Campos do Jordão, Joinville and Fortaleza, the statement adds.

WTM Latin America 2025 will take place from Monday to Wednesday, April 14th to 16th, at Expo Centre Norte in São Paulo.
