A new campaign ‘White Night’ has been launched by Tel Aviv Global & Tourism in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its designation as the ‘White City’ by UNESCO.

Israeli Ministry of Tourism says in a press statement that the ‘White Night’ celebration features performances, music shows from dusk until dawn, all-night museum access, yoga at sunrise and much more.

The ministry adds that the campaign which was launched on June 17, draws inspiration from the popular social media trend of emulating Wes Anderson’s distinctive cinematic style. In order to draw art aficionados and culture vultures to the city and the ‘White Night’ campaign, Anderson serves as the campaign’s creative inspiration. The campaign’s protagonist is shown navigating Tel Aviv’s famous ‘White City,’ which is sprawling with gorgeous Bauhaus architecture in the promotional film.

”White Night’, one of the biggest and most cherished cultural events in the city, celebrates its 20th year this year. With its all-night events comprising of concerts, music shows, yoga at dawn and much more, it is a celebration that really highlights Tel Aviv’s notoriety as the city that does not stop. It is a celebration that does, in fact, highlight the uniqueness of the city,” says Sammy Yahia, Director of Tourism India and Philippines.

The ministry says that the ‘White Night’ tradition originated in July 2003 on the occasion where Tel Aviv was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as the “White City,” an urban asset that combines historical significance and architectural originality. The largest concentration of Bauhaus structures may be found in Tel Aviv’s city centre, firmly establishing Tel Aviv as a leader in the field of contemporary architecture. The all-night celebration was thus born intertwined with this heritage distinction and Tel Aviv’s reputation as the ‘Non-Stop City’.

“Israel is a country with a rich cultural, historical, and religious heritage, and is home to a variety of attractions that offer something for everyone. Whether you are interested in history, culture, nature, or just looking for a unique experience, Israel is a destination that is sure to deliver,” adds Yahia.
