In a unique competition, Austrian energy drink manufacturer Red Bull has launched a global competition ‘Red Bull Can You Make It?’ where teams of three will have to cross Europe in seven days to reach their destination Berlin, but using only cans of Red Bull as currency.

In a press statement, Red Bull says that 20 teams from across the United States will join other teams from around the world and will depart from one of five starting points in Europe, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Copenhagen and Milan. Audiences will be able to track all the teams’ journeys on the official ‘Red Bull Can You Make It?’ website while the teams will collect points by completing many Checkpoint and Adventure Challenges across several countries in Europe to earn top spot on the leaderboard.

Red Bull says that the application period is open now through March 31, with the European adventure taking place from May 21-28. Each team will hand over their cash, credit cards and personal phones while having just one week to make it to Berlin.

The statement adds that throughout the journey, teams will exchange cans of Red Bull for everything they need like food, a place to sleep, transportation to the next location and other adventures. Teams will visit checkpoints in various European cities where they will be tasked with ‘Checkpoint Challenges’ and ‘Adventure Challenges.’ Red Bull says that this is a journey using wits, charm, and strategy; it is not about the first team to the destination but the adventures along the way that matter.

The statement adds that Checkpoint Challenges will take place in several cities across Europe and range from an adventure with a Red Bull athlete or being immersed into a local cultural experience. Adventure Challenges can be done at any point during the day in any city and focus on creativity and having fun with teammates and can trades.

According to the statement, scores are based on Checkpoint Challenges, Adventure Challenges as well as how much participants share their achievements across social channels. The winners of the event will be determined by the number of points they gather throughout their journey, not who is the first across the finish line.

Red Bull says that to sign up, potential participants will have to gather two friends to make a three-person team and create a short video explaining why their team should be chosen and submit it by March 31.
