Caribbean Travel Forum returns to Barbados from May 9

Caribbean Travel Forum 2023 will feature two breakout panels concentrating on sustainability and technology

CHTA’s new event, 2nd edition of the Caribbean Travel Forum focuses on the business of tourism in the Caribbean with specific topics such as multi-destination marketing, intra-Caribbean travel with emphasis on air connectivity, sustainability, technology innovation, labour market, taxation and linkages.

A statement from the organisers says that the keynote address will outline the importance of the travel and tourism industry as one of the world’s largest economic sectors by an internationally recognised tourism research body and will include industry trends and growth sectors.

It adds that titans of the travel industry, general managers, thought leaders and government officials are set to provide insightful and relevant information to the Caribbean travel industry including sharing global and regional travel industry data insight, as well as consumer and travel trends.

The statement says that the forum is set to start with the state of the regional industry address by CHTA President, Nicola Madden-Greig, followed by a keynote speaker then the CHTA Awards lunch to present the Destination Resilience Award and CHTA Icon of Hospitality Award. A discussion panel will discuss the most important issues to ensure Caribbean tourism remains the top warm weather destination while addressing some of the major potential headwinds. This panel will include discussion on multi-destination marketing, Intra-Caribbean travel with emphasis on air connectivity, new markets, public and private sector policies.

It adds that two breakout panels concentrating on sustainability and technology will feature in the event. While the technology panel will discuss embedding technology and its impact on revenue/commercial, operations, and employee engagement, the sustainability panels will review the global and regional state of affairs of this vitally important topic, including the Glasgow Protocol from the UNFCCC and WTTC.

The statement says that Caribbean Travel Forum is a stand-alone event immediately preceding Caribbean Travel Marketplace in Barbados from May 9 -11. The forum will focus on creating a sustainable industry capable of handling future shocks while continuing to drive the region’s growth and development. Important discussions and networking opportunities will be offered for the future of the industry and the region.
