Kempinski Hotels has appointed hospitality veteran Barbara Muckermann as its Chief Executive Officer, first woman to head the hotel group, as it prepares for an aggressive expansion plan with the addition of 34 hotels.

Geneva-based luxury hospitality chain Kempinski Hotels has announced the appointment of Barbara Muckermann as its Chief Executive Officer.

In a press statement, Muckermann brings over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, previously responsible for leading Royal Caribbean Group’s Silversea Cruises, the world’s largest ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line. Her background includes enhancing sales, profitability, and customer experiences for global brands such as Loro Piana, MSC Cruises, and NCL.

The statement adds that she joins the iconic Kempinski brand with 82 hotels in 36 countries at an exciting time, as the hotel prepares for major growth in new regions worldwide.

Kempinski says that it intends to add another 34 hotels and residences to its portfolio in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa in the coming years and to further secure Kempinski’s legendary global position and standing.
