London, Dubai and Paris are the top three city destinations that have figured the most in searches for summer travel this year, says a report Google Travel Insights released by Google.
The tech giant shared the list based on past flight booking data and search trends. The list features many unexpected locations and the biggest change from 2023 is that Cancun moved down from the number two to number six in the list.
United States of America
The top searched country for travel is the United States of America. Its effervescent ‘Big Apple’ city, also sometimes known worldwide as the world’s most important city and the capital of the world, New York City, takes up fourth spot in the top inbound demand for cities list. Due to the strong demand for spring and summer travel as well as what it described as the ‘most constructive backdrop’ for the airline industry, Georgia-based airline Delta says it expects its highest second-quarter revenue in history.

So strong has been the inbound demand for this country that Spain has also recently made several headlines as it grapples with overtourism, especially in the tranquil little city of Málaga. About 85.1 million visitors flocked to the Iberian nation in 2023, making that year the new record holder for most travellers, previously held by 2019’s 83.5 million visitors. Summertime in Spain can get very busy, especially in the south and in coastal cities like Barcelona. No wonder Barcelona lands in the fifth spot in the busiest summer cities list.

Despite, flight bookings, not just searches, to Paris are up 125 pc for the period of the Olympic Games in 2024, compared to the same travel period last year.
