Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, is a historical city filled with cultural and archaeological attractions, and hospitable, smiling people with lip-smacking food to taste. A large number of incoming visitors who come for business, jobs, meetings, tourism, visiting friends and relatives and any other purpose come to this city and travel to other cities of Bangladesh via Dhaka. However, they didn’t have a concrete tourism product ready to use to explore this metropolis. Visitors must have done customised city trips according to their wish, time and resources available to them. But a standardised tourism product of the guided city tour was missing. Dhaka City Tour has come as a solution to this.

When the country is geared to celebrate the centenary of  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, the state-owned tourism corporation launched Dhaka City Tour programme in association with a leading travel conglomerate of the country, River and Green Tours. Both the parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for conducting the regular ‘Dhaka City Tour’ for the incoming visitors. The tours will offer the visitors a chance to experience the culture, history, struggle for freedom, fight for language and diversity along with numerous attractions of past and present.

Speaking exclusively with India Outbound, Ram Chandra Das, the chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation said, “The beauty and heritage value Dhaka city has, we want to showcase that to our foreign as well as domestic visitors through this city tour. We want to present our deep-rooted history and the valuable role this land has played in the history of the sub-continent, and connect with the rest of the world.”

The director of River and Green Tours, Mohiuddin Helal, a leading tourism activist of Bangladesh is going to to shape the city tour into action. Helal told India Outbound, “While working in Bangladesh tourism industry for many years, I felt the need to step up the game and develop unique tourism products that is acceptable to most of the visitors. Days to promote only the destinations are now gone, and it is time to develop products and we are happy to develop Dhaka City Tour with BPC which is a must in any city from tourism point of view. The time and place couldn’t be better, as we embark on celebrating our father of the nation and expect a lot of events for which many people are expected to visit Dhaka city than ever.”
