Restored and renovated, and now one of the largest libraries in Istanbul and one of the few in Europe, the Rami Library continues to host eminent authors from Türkiye and around the world as part of its literature programme. According to a press statement, Vikas Swarup, the internationally acclaimed Indian diplomat and author of the eight Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire fame, is set to participate in a literary program on April 26 at the Rami Library.

The statement adds that Swarup, a former Undersecretary of India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has already written two books in Türkiye which include Who Wants to Earn a Billion and Six Suspects.

The statement adds that Swarup will be joined at the signing and discussion event titled “Bringing Distances Closer” on April 26 at 14.00 at Rami Library by Fırat Sunel, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to New Delhi and a well-known novelist whose writings have been translated into several languages worldwide. Swarup and Sunel will discuss the bond that was forged through literature between India, where Sunel is currently serving as ambassador, and Türkiye, where Vikas Swarup served as a diplomat for the first time.

It goes on to say that participants will get to know about interesting insights on how the two diplomat-writers’ roles as authors and diplomats have influenced their literary journeys as they talk about the human stories that bridge two far-off nations. There is also a book-signing event lined up for the readers during the event’s closing act.
