At the ongoing travel trade event, Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE), key delegates are convening in the Malaysian city to discuss the future of tourism and elevate Penang‘s status as the premier business events and travel destination in the Asia Pacific region.

According to a press statement issued by the organisers, PITE 2023, to continue till November 9, has gathered over 80 international buyers from across the globe, including Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany, Latvia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. The organisers add that what sets this edition apart is the introduction of an exciting ‘expedition’ experience, designed to offer a fresh perspective on exploring the exquisite city of Penang.

“Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE) 2023 is not just an event; it is a journey into the heart of the travel industry’s future. It is an opportunity for us to engage, innovate, and discover together,” says Ashwin Gunasekeran, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).

The organisers add that alongside them, 42 top-notch exhibitors from Malaysia are showcasing their latest offerings, fostering fruitful collaborations and showcasing the best the region has to offer. Launched in 2018, PITE serves as a platform for travel trade professionals to forge valuable connections and explore the unique allure of Penang as a thriving business events and travel destination, adds the statement.

It adds that the PITE 2023 is hosting an itinerary that includes dynamic business-to–business sessions, enlightening site inspections, educational workshops and engaging networking events. 

The organisers add that attendees will have the opportunity to embark on familiarisation trips to Penang’s latest attractions, ensuring a comprehensive and immersive experience of everything this vibrant destination has to offer. From its rich cultural heritage to its culinary delights and scenic beauty, Penang has something for every traveller.
