What began as part of Bordeaux’s celebration of the arrival of the tall ships during the Tall Ships Races in 1998 has now become one of the French cultural icons now. Bordeaux Fête le Vin or Bordeaux Wine Festival 2024 is set to be replete with special tastings of new vintages, exclusive wine pairings with gourmet cuisine and presentations by renowned winemakers.

According to a press statement issued by organisers, from June 27 to 30 this year, the Bordeaux wine and tourism fest will be held on the banks of the River Garonne where over four days of festivities, Bordeaux’s winemaking heritage with a rich programme of tastings, experiences and emotions, will be explored.

The statement adds that Bordeaux in southwestern France has remained associated with the quality and variety of its wines and vineyards. In attendance every year are visitors from all over the world who are treated to an assortment of choices, from wine tastings, cultural rendezvous and musical events, as well as avant-premières at the city’s many restaurants and cultural centres, all rounded off by a spectacular drone show over the night skies.

Bordeaux’s Fête le Vin has gained ground as a symbol of the region’s unique identity and is a well-deserved celebration of France’s key winegrowers, becoming an unmmisable event for both native and international wine enthusiasts, say the organisers.

Tens of thousands of visitors, international and local, attend and take part in the many events held every year to discover the great diversity of wines from Bordeaux and its region through a variety of events. Every year, the Bordeaux Wine Festival welcomes tall ships to the quayside of the beautiful river Garonne. The Belem, El Galeón and Santa Maria Manuela are just some of the legendary ships that dock at the Port de la Lune. Carrying forward the tradition this year too, new ships and new sailing ships will be presented in 2024, say the organisers.

According to the organisers, Bordeaux Wine Festival will be visiting the four corners of the city throughout the weekend prior to the festival with the avant-première events. The festival will also feature its legendary wine tasting tour and its many appellation pavilions, where wine professionals share their expertise over a glass of wine. Not far away, the gastronomic village awaits gourmets with local specialities produced locally. The avant-premières present their special musical tasting evenings, where you can taste Bordeaux wine to a musical backdrop in places like the Le Carré Colonnes’ hidden garden in Saint Médard en Jalles, or in superb parks such as Château des Iris in Lormont and other surprising places.

Further enhancing the appeal, in 2023, the Bordeaux Wine Festival unveiled a major new feature, a ballet of drones performed over two evenings to surprise and amaze locals and visitors alike with a display of extraordinary shows from the left bank of the Garonne River.

In 2024, a new show will take place on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29. Spectators can watch drones take to the skies in a choreographed musical performance that could be seen from the Bordeaux Wine Festival grounds on the left Bank.
