Media and MICE business delegates were recently invited on a study tour to the newly inaugurated Warsaw-Radom Airport (RDO) by Polish Airports and Poland Convention Bureau. In a press statement the state tourism body, Polish Tourism Organisation (PTO) says that the Warsaw-Radom Airport (RDO) is being regarded as a potential magnet to attract new opportunities for the MICE industry and thus, play an important role in developing the Polish aviation infrastructure.

PTO says that the Warsaw-Radom Airport is designed to contribute to relieving the Chopin Airport in Warsaw, which has already reached its full potential. It now serves as the nearest airport to Targi Kielce, where international events are held, including the International Defence Industry Exhibition. Currently, the Warsaw-Radom Airport operates services to Rome, Paris and selected European destinations, such as Bulgaria and Greece, in cooperation with tour operators.

According to PTO, business travellers from several European nations can access the nation’s capital and the surrounding area with ease thanks to the new airport. Capital Warsaw is Poland’s primary economic and commercial hub and with the new airport, travellers may choose from a greater range of connections and are no longer limited to the existing Chopin Airport.

The opening of RDO can potentially boost the MICE sector in Mazovia and Kielce. The new airport is a practical substitute for entrepreneurs and attendees of conferences or fairs who are visiting southern Mazovia and the Witokrzyskie Voivodeship, says PTO.

One of the most important considerations when selecting event locations is transportation accessibility. PTO says  this has an impact on the viability and efficacy of business trips and promotes the scheduling of meetings and conferences in these places. Witokrzyskie Convention Bureau, Mazovia Convention Bureau, and Warsaw Convention Bureau now have leveraged on further arguments for securing potential events with RDO.

Officially named the Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom im. Bohaterów Radomskiego Czerwca 1976 Roku, or Heroes of Radom’s June 1976 Warsaw Radom Airport, PTO says it is the latest, most modern airport in Poland and is located at a strategic point of just 3 km from the centre of Radom. It says that the smart design renders a shortened check-in time and the convenient layout of the building allows passengers to pass from the terminal directly to the plane. Since its opening in April 2023, the airport has already served 15,000 passengers and can handle 3 million passengers a year, adds the statement.

PTO goes on to say that the terminal offers an area of more than 30,000 sqm, with fast service guaranteed by 31 check-in stations, nine gates, six passport control stations, three security lines and two baggage claim carousels. Its infrastructure allows for accommodation of a variety of aircraft types, including the popular A320 and B737, as well as larger aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
