SriLankan Airlines says that the participants for the next edition of adventure trail ‘Raid Amazones 2023’ arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport on March 20, aboard a SriLankan Airlines flight from Paris.
In a press statement, the airline says that the participants were accorded a warm welcome with a traditional flair at the airport. The statement adds that the trail is set to unfold from March 22 – 28 at the scenic Kandy. The participants landed on SriLankan Airlines’ flight UL 564 from Paris, after which they boarded the Udarata Menike train from the Gampaha Railway Station to Kandy, says the airline.
According to the statement, SriLankan Airlines is stepping up its efforts toward restoring the country’s tourism industry, in part by drawing major international events that help showcase the island’s appeal to diverse travel interests in the global arena. One such is the coveted annual destination adventure event originating from France – Raid Amazones, with the participation of over 250 female athletes for the current year. The event features female athletes competing their way through a range of challenges such as orienteering, mountain biking, canoeing, riding, running and archery, says the statement.
