Dubai-based carrier Emirates has announced roll out of additional services to destinations in Brazil, Argentina and Australia, that will kick off in December.

In a press statement, the airline says that it will launch a fifth frequency on its Dubai-Rio de Janeiro route, starting December 7. It says that the additional weekly flight on Saturdays will provide increased capacity on its service to the Brazilian city.

The airline adds that additionally, the linked service allows travellers to conveniently travel onwards to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.

It says that the additional weekly frequency between Dubai, Brazil and Argentina will operate as EK247 and EK248 in a two-class configuration.

EK 247 will leave Dubai at 08:05 arriving at Rio de Janeiro the same day at 15:55. The same aircraft will then fly on to Buenos Aires at 17:30, reaching at 20:55 the same day.

On the return leg, EK248 will depart from Buenos Aires at 22:30, reaching Rio de Janeiro at 01:15 the next day. It will leave from the Brazilian beach city at 02:55, reaching Dubai at 00:30 the next day.

The airline says that the added flights to be deployed in December will offer 302 seats on each flight in economy and business class. Business class passengers travelling between Rio de Janeiro and Dubai can enjoy complimentary chauffeur drive services before departure and on arrival in both cities, and access to the Emirates Lounge in Dubai.

While the enhanced services to Brazil and Argentina are expected to facilitate additional connectivity for passengers travelling between these countries and other popular destinations in across Emirates’ network, it might especially be a boon to customers travelling to and from Beirut as Brazil and Argentina are home to the two largest Lebanese communities in Latin America.

The airline adds that Brazilian and Argentinian nationals can also avail of visa-free travel to Dubai, making it a popular and accessible destination for them. It says that the top inbound markets for tourism into Brazil and Argentina include mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Russia, and the UAE.

Emirates says that its codeshare partnerships with GOL Airlines and Azul Airlines and interline partnerships with LATAM Airlines and Aerolineas Argentinas allow its customers to fly beyond Rio de Janeiro, to an expansive network of domestic points Brasilia, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Curitiba, Recife, as well as regional cities Santiago and Panama City.

Second daily service from Dubai to Perth

Not just to Latin America, Emirates is also boosting frequencies to the other end of the world as it plans to recommence a second daily service between Perth in Western Australia and Dubai from December 1.

The airline says that its second daily service will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in addition to the current A380 daily service.

The additional EK425 service will depart Dubai at 09:15 and arrive in Perth at 00:05 the following early morning, while the original EK420 service leaves Dubai at 02:45 and arrives in Perth at 17:20.

Emirates’ A380 seat 14 in first class and 76 in business. The 777-300ERs are smaller, with eight in first class and 42 in business class.

“The announcement represents another important step forward in rebuilding WA’s aviation capacity and further strengthens Perth’s global reputation as the Western Gateway to Australia,” says Western Australia acting tourism minister, John Carey.

“We are really proud to have brought back or secured new non-stop flights to 19 global cities since borders reopened, and this is just another vote of confidence in Western Australia as a tourism destination,” he adds.

“The re-introduction of Emirates’ second daily service is great news as it will add significant capacity into the Perth market. The Emirates network is extensive and links to more than 140 destinations world-wide which is great news for West Australian travellers, particularly those travelling through Dubai to the UK and Europe,” says Scott Woodward, Chief Operating Officer of Perth Airport.
