In a significant expansion into the West African market, low-cost airline EasyJet has announced the launch of first low-cost flights from Portugal to Cabo Verde from October.

In a press statement, the airline says that starting from October 29, it will introduce two services between the two destinations. While the first flight will connect Portuguese capital Lisbon with  Sal in Cabo Verde, the second flight will be between Sal and Porto.

The airline says that this strategic move demonstrates its growth plans by establishing new air routes between Europe and West Africa, adding that it will initially offer 50,000 tickets for the winter season to these destinations and another 50,000 in summer of 2025.

The airline says that the Lisbon-Sal flight will be operated four times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while it will offer two weekly services to Porto , flying from Sal every Wednesday and Saturday. The airline says that by addressing growing demand, it provides affordable travel options, improving access between Portugal and the West African archipelago.

According to EasyJet, these routes represent a pivotal step, offering efficient connections to Cabo Verde’s rich culture and natural attractions like Sal’s beaches and surf spots. Increased accessibility promises to stimulate tourism, business, and positively impact international travel dynamics in the region.

The airline adds that Cabo Verde’s strategic position off West Africa’s coast allows it to draw visitors from across Europe, Africa and beyond.
