Texas-headquartered American Airlines will be adding four new routes and resume services in another route as part of the airline’s largest trans-Atlantic expansion since 2019.

In a press statement, the airline says that it will add flights to three new European cities in 2024, namely Danish capital Copenhagen, French Riviera town of Nice and Naples in Italy from the summer of 2024.

American says that it will also launch new service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Barcelona in Spain and bring back flights between Chicago and Venice in Italy. Tickets will be available for purchase starting August 20, says the airline.

“American is thrilled to add three new European destinations. New service from Philadelphia and expanded trans-Atlantic service from Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth will offer customers convenient one-stop access from more than 200 unique destinations across the US to Europe next summer,” says Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.

American says it will offer 15 daily nonstop flights from Philadelphia to 14 European destinations next summer, its largest trans-Atlantic schedule from the City of Brotherly Love since 2019. With increased service to more than 70 domestic destinations from Philadelphia, American will offer convenient one-stop access for customers across the country to Europe.

Starting May 6, the airline will launch service between Philadelphia and Nice. New service to Napoli, the airline’s fourth Italian destination, will begin from June 5. The press statement adds that when service to Copenhagen launches June 6, American will be offering flights to 11 countries in Europe.

American says it will also launch new service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Barcelona for first time next summer, positioning itself as the largest US airline serving the Catalonian capital.

The statement adds that a nonstop flight will be added connecting the Windy City to the City of Water, marking the return of service between Chicago and Venice. Complementing existing service between Philadelphia and Venice, the additional flight from Chicago will allow customers increased schedule flexibility and connect to more than 100 domestic destinations, including more Midwest cities.

American says it also recently expanded service year-round on routes to several key trans-Atlantic destinations, including Lisbon in Portugal, Spanish capital Madrid and Rome in Italy, providing customers more flexibility to plan their European vacations in 2024.

This winter, the airline says it will reinforce its status as the largest airline between the US and Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America by further expanding the largest-ever schedule to the region with more flights to fun-in-the-sun destinations. There are plans to increase flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires to daily service starting this October.
