After a successful Sri Lanka MICE Expo 2023 that was held in March, the South Asian nation is now preparing to organise another MICE Expo, positioning its Northern Province as an ideal MICE destination, especially for MICE travellers from South India, who share cultural affinity with the Northern Province, besides the geographical proximity.
According to a press statement, the inaugural Jaffna MICE Expo 2023 is being organised by Sri Lanka Convention Bureau under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism & Lands from November 30 at the Jetwing Jaffna and The Thinnai Hotel in Jaffna.
Located in the northern tip of the Pearl of Asia, Jaffna is closer to South India than it is to Sri Lanka’s own capital, says the statement.
Connected to the Sri Lankan mainland by a lagoon causeway, the northern capital exhibits a dignified culture and traditional influences found nowhere else on the island. Jaffna is the hub of the Hindu culture in Sri Lanka and it is an exciting place to visit.
The organisers say that the Jaffna MICE Expo 2023 will consist of a Business Forum, Opening Plenary, B2B Meetings, as well as a gala dinner and a Jaffna familiarisation tour. The objective of the event is to showcase Northern part of Sri Lanka as a MICE destination to the South Indian MICE travellers, say the organisers.
They adds that the event will consist of a fully hosted buyer programme open to South Indian travel professionals and media personnel.
40 MICE buyers and five media personnel will be hosted from South India. The fully hosted buyer package will include return air ticket from Chennai to Jaffna, three nights accommodation including all meals, access to the Business Forum, Opening Plenary, B2B Meetings, gala dinner and Jaffna familiarisation tour.
The B2B session will be organised between the Hosted buyers from South India and the regional and local MICE related service providers including hotels, venue providers and other MICE operators.
