In the latest edition of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the idyllic scenery and cultural heritage of Peru is richly showcased to the world, establishing Peru as an attractive destination for film locations.

According to a press statement, Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuamán, Abra Málaga, Maras, Chinchero in Cusco, as well as Alto Shilcayo, Cascadas La Unión, Shapaja, and Ahuashiyacu waterfall in Tarapoto, are some of the idyllic settings showcased in the film directed by Steven Caple Jr. This is expected to boost both domestic and international tourism, after its worldwide release.

With the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperu) and its ‘Film in Peru’ initiative, the nation has welcomed renowned international production companies over the past two years who have shot acclaimed feature films, short films, series, and documentaries like Queen of the South, Don’t Look Up, and Dora and the Lost City, among others. The geography, culture, cuisine, and variety of microclimates of the nation are highlighted in these productions.

The statement adds that the use of Peruvian film locations in audiovisual productions not only contributes to showcasing this country and its different regions but also attracts foreign investment, generating a direct economic impact on the tourism sector, among other related services such as catering, wardrobe, production, cultural managers, transportation, hospitality, and many more.

It adds that the Peruvian territory makes it possible to tell various kinds of stories, which facilitates the development of new tourism destinations, cities, and regions that could draw increasing numbers of tourists. Comparing movie buffs to average visitors, it has been observed that they are more social media engaged, with a growth of 27 pc and receive more recommendations following their visit that rose by 6 pc.

With an assortment of archaeological heritage of ancient civilisations, Peru is a melting pot of races and living cultures that possess a rich folklore that merges music, dances, and traditional celebrations that have transcended time. Peru’s history, nature, culture and adventure continues to enthrall many and it is also garnering much appreciation as a movie destination, adds the statement.
