The central American country of Panama has announced that it is hosting the second edition of Panama Travel Mart from September 22–26 in the capital Panama City.

According to a press statement by the organisers, Chamber of Tourism of Panama (CAMTUR), the travel fair Panama Travel Mart is aimed exclusively at tour operators and MICE companies from the major markets of USA, Canada, Latin America and Europe.

The statement says that these key market influencers will gather in Panama for an updated overview on the destination as well as have business meetings with the primary suppliers in the tourism industry, which will include hotels, destination management companies (DMC), attractions and event organisers.

“The first edition of Panama Travel Mart which was held in 2021, marked the beginning of the reopening of the country to the world following an extended period of closure caused by the Covid-19 global pandemic. In the first edition, more than USD 30 million in new business was generated which was essential to consolidate the trust in distribution channels for tourism in the destination,’’ says Minister of Tourism Ivan Eskildsen.

‘‘We anticipate that this second edition of Panama Travel Mart will be as successful as the first and we are looking forward to all the buyers from the tour operator companies around the world coming in and experiencing our world class product first hand. A world class product that includes the greenery of our flora and fauna along with the natural richness of the forests and mountains, the many tones of blue from scenes of the oceans and the rivers and of course the legendary cultures that showcase our ancestral customs in contrast to the modern and cosmopolitan life of the capital with sports centres, restaurants, bars and casinos,” says Ovidio Diaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAMTUR.

As a country located on the isthmus linking Central and South America, the statement says that Panama is an easy destination to reach from all over the world. It offers many tourism options including beautiful landscapes, paradisiacal beaches and a wide variety of experiences to simply relax and enjoy.

It goes on to say that the country is at the centre of an active cosmopolitan lifestyle and ancient cultures, of modernity and tradition, it is home to countless species, jungles and sunny beaches. In addition, it has a pleasant climate for most of the year.
