New York City Tourism + Conventions, the City’s official destination marketing organisation and convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City, invited travel trade partners and media to a captivating evening featuring the iconic Broadway show, West Side Story at Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai.
According to a press statement issued by the company, the Indian trade partners had the opportunity to witness the timeless tale of love and rivalry against the backdrop of a stunning Broadway production.
The statement adds that West Side Story, a classic masterpiece of musical theater, has captivated audiences for generations with its storytelling. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, the story is set in the mid-1950s in Upper Manhattan in New York City, then a multiracial, blue-collar neighbourhood.
‘‘We believe that fostering strong partnerships within the tourism industry is essential for creating memorable experiences for travellers. As part of our ongoing commitment to promote cultural experiences, we bought a piece of New York City to our trade partners in India. We hope to deepen connections, inspire new collaborations, and continue to showcase New York City as a premier cultural destination,’’ says Makiko Matsuda Healy, Senior Vice President of Tourism Development, New York City Tourism + Conventions. The networking event provided the trade partners an opportunity to connect and share insights about the latest travel & tourism trends.
