DCB Bank has launched its travel card, DCB TravelSmart Card, for international holidays, business trips and workcations. According to a press statement, the bank says that the DCB TravelSmart Card is a Debit Card when used in India. It provides customers with the three advantages of hassle-free travel without the need to buy particular foreign currencies, insurance protection, and the ability to keep earning an alluring interest rate on the funds remaining in their DCB Savings Bank accounts.

All major currencies are supported with the DCB TravelSmart Card, which also offers customers with mark-up fees as low as 2 pc on foreign transactions. A lower mark-up fee in relation to other cards means that customers overall save more by using this card while travelling abroad, says the bank.

DCB adds that its TravelSmart Card offers complimentary travel insurance with insurance cover on baggage loss, baggage delay, flight delay, loss of personal documents for international travel. Insurance cover of INR 1,00,000 on both domestic and international sectors on accidental death when travelling by rail, road or air only, and lost card liability cover both domestic and international, of up to INR 2,00,000. The card holder also enjoys exclusive discounts and offers provided by Visa from time to time, DCB adds.

The statement adds that in contrast to other travel and forex cards, which require consumers to load a certain foreign currency depending on the destination country, DCB TravelSmart is a conventional debit card connected to the customer’s DCB Savings Bank account. Customers continue to receive a competitive interest rate on their account balances through savings accounts. The currency of the destination nation is automatically chosen whenever the cardholder uses the card overseas, and the funds are deducted from the savings bank account. According to the rules of a savings bank account, the remaining sum continues to generate interest.

Thus, DCB TravelSmart makes international travel smooth and less stressful,” says Praveen Kutty, Head of Retail Banking at DCB Bank.

“Moreover, no requirement of pre-currency change and insurance cover makes DCB TravelSmart Card a perfect travel buddy. Through this product, we aim to create unique travel experiences for our customers,’’ he adds.
