With the world grappling with pollution globally, some cities are still not subscribing to the cosmopolitan rules and carving out paths of their own, that set benchmarks. Bristol, in the United Kingdom, has been recognised as the best city in the nation for bike-riding from amongst over 32,400 ‘bike-touring’ routes in over 100 UK cities.

Bristol has been crowned the best city in the UK for bike-riding. Its off-road cycling trails in Ashton Court, Leigh Wood and 50 Acre Wood massively contribute towards this.

According to recent studies by Auto Trader, UK’s digital marketplace for used automotives, Bristol is among the best cities in the UK for cyclists. It recently noticed a 15 pc spike in electric bike interest on its website.

The statement says that each year, thousands of people get on their mountain bikes at Ashton Court, with riders enjoying an estimated 140,000 circuits of the trails here in 2022.

Bristol was voted top amongst over 32,400 ‘bike-touring’ routes in over 100 UK cities classed as either ‘Easy’ or ‘Intermediate’ level by millions of users.

The statement adds that Bristol was named Britain’s first ‘cycling city’ in 2008 and now boasts of nearly 784 easy and intermediate leisure cycling circuits. As a result, cycling routes are present on almost all of Bristol’s major roads, in addition to plenty of places to park the bike, making cycling a fantastic way to explore Bristol.

It adds that Bristol beat the likes of Liverpool with 727 leisurely bike rides, Newcastle upon Tyne with 646, Cambridge with 640 and Edinburgh 631. It is also the only UK city to crack the top 10 global cities for bike rides, the best being Brussels in Belgium.

The statement adds that Bristol’s cycling trails have often been termed as great assets to the city, as they are free to use, all-weather and open all-year-round. There are countryside trails for peaceful excursions, challenging mountain biking routes, and an extensive network of city centre cycle routes for commuters.

These trails are for people to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the forest, to get some fresh air and exercise and can be used by all ages and all abilities.
