One of the leading culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, Oceania Cruises has announced the induction of Chef Alexis Quaretti, Senior Culinary Director, into the prestigious echelons of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France.

According to a press statement, Quaretti now joins alongside Eric Barale, vice president of culinary at Oceania Cruises, who also served as Quaretti’s godfather. With two Master Chefs of France, Oceania Cruises is the only major cruise line to have them, says the statement.

Oceania Cruises says that the 1951-founded Association of French Master Chefs’ objective is to support and advertise French culinary arts globally. The chefs, who serve as representatives of French food and culture and are tasked with passing along this history to their apprentices, embody this mission.

“It’s truly remarkable to have two Master Chefs of France leading our culinary team. Chef Eric and Chef Alexis are both long-standing members of the culinary team, Eric being one of the first members of Oceania Cruises’ culinary family and Alexis joining us shortly after in 2004. The palpable kinship and passion throughout the culinary team prove that Oceania Cruises not only serves the finest cuisine at sea but also has the finest culinary team at sea,” says Frank A Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises.

The statement adds that Quaretti has curated a menu of universal world flavours with his own French knowledge and special passion for a variety of products, motivated by his aim to make Oceania Cruises a place for pleasure-seekers looking for one-of-a-kind experiences. His constantly-evolving meals highlight the finest products and draw inspiration from both his travels and his native France.

Every food served on an Oceania Cruises ship has been created, prepared and tested by Quaretti, who manages the line’s recipe development. He develops about 300 new recipes with the help of his brilliant crew each year to keep the onboard cuisine fresh and exciting. Along with his team, Quaretti creates approximately 300 new recipes each year to constantly revitalise and reinvigorate the onboard menus.

“Being inducted into the Master Chefs of France is truly one of the biggest honours of my career, and I sincerely look forward to being part of this prestigious organisation. I have always been proud to represent French culinary ideals and am lucky to be able to bring the best of the best to Oceania Cruises. I would like to thank my friend and colleague Chef Eric Barale for being my godfather throughout the process and providing me with constant guidance and advice throughout my career,” says Alexis Quaretti, Senior Culinary Director at Oceania Cruises.
