Luxury Spanish hotel chain Riu Hotels and Resorts has opened its seventh hotel in Jamaica, the Riu Palace Aquarelle, the chain’s first establishment in Falmouth. The chain currently has 4,274 rooms in Jamaica.
In a press statement, Riu says that the new establishment features a total of 753 rooms, including 26 family suites, 180 triple rooms and is a 24-hour all-inclusive hotel. It is also the first to offer swim-up suites on the first floor to give guests the best views of the Caribbean Sea. The chain began its first operations in 2001 in Jamaica.
The statement adds that it also has six restaurants that with an array of dining options, the main buffet “White Bay”, the gourmet restaurant “Krystal”, the Italian restaurant “Napoli”, the Asian restaurant “Kyoto”, the grill “Steakhouse” and the jerk style grill “Pepe’s food”.
There are five bars within the hotel, the lobby bar “Daiquiri” known for its cocktails, the patisserie and ice cream parlour “Capuchino”, the pool bar “Marley”, the swim-up bar “Kingston”, the lounge bar “Ska” and and the Sports bar ‘American country’, featuring the new ‘All-American favourites’ menu available 24 hours a day.
The statement adds that there are also four pools along with direct access to the White Bay beach. According to the hotel, the Riu Palace Aquarelle is the chain’s first hotel in the Caribbean to use solar energy and the chain has plans to implement this initiative in other destinations in the region, after having invested in photovoltaic systems at its hotels in Spain, Cape Verde, Senegal, the Maldives, Zanzibar and Mauritius.
