June marks the start of the outdoor music season in Madrid, with festivals and series featuring a broad and eclectic range of musical experiences, making the city a must-visit destination. One of the first is Primavera Sound, which is being held in the capital for the first time and will feature performances from June 5 to 11 at Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey, as well as at some other major venues throughout the city. Live performances of the very best music will continue until the end of the summer, with Mad Cool, Reggaeton Beach Festival and Coca-Cola Music Experience, all of which will take place at Madrid’s new festival site in the district of Villaverde. Madrid City Council has compiled a list of some of the best upcoming festivals in town.

Primavera Sound Festival

To be held at the Ciudad de Rock in Arganda del Rey, the event will feature more than 200 performances at each location

The organisers of the 2023 edition of the Primavera Sound festival plan to spice things up a bit differently this time around, with the show to be hosted in two towns in Spain. The festival will take place in Barcelona as usual throughout the first weekend in June at Parc del Forum de Barcelona-Sant Adrià del Bess, but it will also visit Madrid from June 8-10. To be held at the Ciudad de Rock in Arganda del Rey, the event will feature more than 200 performances at each location under the theme “I’ll be your mirror,” featuring the participation of musicians including Depeche Mode, Kendrick Lamar, Blur, Rosala, Halsey, FKA twigs, New Order, Skrillex, St Vincent, The Mouldy Peaches, Calvin Harris, and Le Tigre.

Boombastic Festival

The Boombastic Festival will be held at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium in Rivas Vaciamadrid

The statement adds that the Boombastic Festival is holding another edition at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium in Rivas-Vaciamadrid on June 17, becoming one of the first summer festivals in the city. For the second consecutive year, the Boombastic Festival will be held at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium in Rivas Vaciamadrid and the line-up for the 2023 edition is headed by the Argentinean artist Bizarrap.

Other leading artists in the urban music genre will also be on stage, such as Funzo&Baby Loud, Recycled J, Delaossa, Ptazeta, Pole, Ysy A, Zetazen, Hoke&Louis Amoeba, Jaime Lorente, Saiko, Leo Rizzi, Nano, Dudi, Enor, Munic HB, Delgao, Bon Calso and Dani Riba, among others. Although the festival’s central theme is music, there will also be space for other experiences with the presence of a food truck service, where food from different parts of the world can be sampled with original and varied menus.

The Summer Story

The month of June sees Arganda del Rey, a town 35 km outside Madrid, transform into the epicentre of electronic music. On June 23 and 24, the seventh anniversary of A Summer Story festival will be held, attracting some of the best DJs and performers in the field. A Summer Story was created with the intention of gathering fans of electronic music in one place. The event is held at the Ciudad del Rock de Arganda del Rey, a festival location that has already hosted other significant events like Rock In Rio and has great transportation connections to Madrid with dedicated shuttle buses operating on festival days. For guests to fully appreciate the musical experience, A Summer Story also provides a camping area.

Furthermore, Mad Cool Festival is changing its venue in this latest edition and will be held at a new space in the Villaverde district. The line-up announced for 2023 is initially made up of 53 bands, to which other names will be added. The group from California, Red Hot Chili Peppers, has been one of the first to confirm its participation in the festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary as a band.

Paraíso Festival
