Celebrating the lesser-explored attractions of Spain with football and beyond, Turespaña, along with LaLiga and Instituto Cervantes hosted an event in New Delhi in the presence of key Indian travel trade partners and Spanish delegates.

Indian football fans will soon have the opportunity to dive into the heart of Spain’s rich culture, breaking barriers and fostering unforgettable connections through football.

Tourism Office of Spanish Embassy, Turespaña, in collaboration with Spanish sports league LaLiga and Spanish institute Instituto Cervantes, held Exploring destination delights and the magic of football in Spain event yesterday in New Delhi that showcased the various attractions of Spain with football and beyond.

Advancing bilateral ties and bringing together Indian travel trade partners and Spanish delegates, the alliance seeked to get Indian fans closer to the richness of Spanish culture, beyond language barriers, to foster tourism connections through the immersive football fervour not very dissimilar between the two nations.

Attending the event were Elisa Robles Fraga, Director, Tourism Office of Embassy of Spain in India, Elena Pérez-Villanueva del Caz, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Spain, Aakriti Vohra, LaLiga Global Network Delegate India and Oscar Pujol, Director Instituto Cervantes, among many other key delegates from both the nations. 

“Turespaña is thrilled to embark on this fantastic initiative alongside LaLiga and Instituto Cervantes. Our collaboration aims to create a bridge between Spain and India, using the universal language of football to foster cultural understanding. This alliance not only enriches the experience for Indian football fans, but also opens doors to explore the vibrant tapestry of Spanish culture, ultimately allowing the Indian travellers to truly explore and experience the beautiful destination that is Spain,” said Elisa Robles Fraga, Director, Turespaña.

The evening was followed by a presentation on a series of lesser explored Spanish regions, including the ‘City of the Three Cultures’ Toledo, Costa Brava with its dramatic cliffs and sea views, City of Arts Valencia, Bilbao’s architectural grandeur, along with the Islamic palace, fortress complex of Alhambra as well as many others. 

The event aimed at depicting Spain’s natural, cultural, gastronomical, artistic and architectural offerings in touch with the football fervour that binds them all together.

“Football with its universal appeal, provides a unique platform to cultivate connections. Along with the Spanish – Hindi and Bengali dictionary, we are delighted to play our part once again in these sustained efforts aimed to enhance regional ties through the breaking of language barriers and fostering relationships through football,” said Òscar Pujol, Director Instituto Cervantes in Delhi.

“LaLiga is not just a league; it’s a cultural bridge, and we are excited to once again showcase ‘The Power of our Fútbol’ as a catalyst for positive change and meaningful connections in the Indian subcontinent. As an addition to the Spanish – Hindi and Bengali dictionary, it is a moment of great pride to announce this transformative collaboration with Turespaña and Instituto Cervantes and bring Indian fans ever closer to the vibrant spirit of Spanish culture,” Aakriti Vohra, LaLiga Global Network Delegate in India added.
