With 10 travel trade stakeholders from Peru, Promperu, the tourism promotion organisation of Peru is all set to participate in leading travel trade show, OTM 2024, that gets underway in Mumbai on February 8.

In a press statement, Promperu says that the South American country aims to showcase unique and unforgettable experiences. It adds that Peru is a true luxury destination, boasting epic landscapes across diverse settings. It says that Peru offers high-end tourism products and services, making it an ideal destination for couples, friends, and families, rich in culture and nature. The food scene is unparalleled, recognised as the best in the world, and provides diverse options for even the most discerning palates, says Promperu.

Promperu lists leading attractions of Peru that would be showcased during the trade fair.

It says that Lima, the Peruvian capital, goes beyond being a mere brief stopover with its rich tapestry of historical landmarks, showcasing colonial-era grandeur and a captivating culinary transformation. Lima is a harmonious blend of gastronomy, culture, art, shopping, architecture, and tradition creates a peerless experience, it says.

Another destination, Cusco, home to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is a must-visit destination. It says visitors must consider embarking on hikes along some of the most picturesque trails like Palcoyo, a colourful mountain chain, staying in hotels in monasteries or colonial houses in the Sacred Valley, or going to Machupicchu on a luxury train that ensures an unforgettable trip.

Promperu says that the scenery of Loreto can be summed up in one jaw-dropping site where the Amazon River originates and one of the most stunning nature reserves in Peru, Pacaya-Samiria, sailing on the longest river on the planet. Similarly attractive and immersed in colonial history, Arequipa showcases well-preserved museums and convents that act as portals into Peru’s rich past.

The surrounding countryside reveals picturesque landscapes, enticing travelers to delve into the authenticity of rural life. Colca Canyon, one of the world’s deepest canyons, provides a habitat for the Andean condor, a bird held in reverence within Incan traditions.

Promperu says that in addition to its captivating landscapes and cultural richness, Peru boasts a unique connection to alpacas and llamas, which play a pivotal role in the country’s textile industry.

Valued for their exceptionally soft and luxurious fibers, these animals contribute to the production of some of the world’s most exquisite textiles celebrated for their exceptional warmth, soft texture, and durability. It adds that Peru provides a range of opportunities for indulging in luxury, culture and nature.
