Vistara to add credit card surcharge on tickets from March 1

Vistara has introduced a surcharge that ranges from INR 300-1299

Full-service carrier Vistara, which is part of the Tata Group, will introduce a surcharge ranging from INR 300-1299 for all tickets issued using credit cards. Certain cards and customers have been exempted from the surcharge.

Tata Group member and full-service airline Vistara says that with effect from March 1, it will add a surcharge on credit cards used for booking tickets.

In a statement, Vistara says that it will be introducing credit card surcharge fee (OB Tax) which would be filed through the respective GDS effective March 1 for all ‘non-preferred’ credit cards for point of sale India.

It adds that all tickets issued under the Vistara corporate commercials which is filed through the respective authorised travel agencies for contracted corporates will be exempted from the surcharge if issued using non-preferred credit cards.

Exemption excludes cluster or SME commercials filed with the travel agencies for non-contracted corporates where surcharge will be applicable in case issued using non-preferred credit card which are not part of below list.

The airline says Mastercard and Visa cards issued by six banks, namely Axis Bank, lnduslnd Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Card and Yes Bank as well as Diners Club card issued by HDFC Bank will be exempted from the surcharge.

It adds that any other addition or deletion in the preferred credit card list shall be notified by the airline sales team from time to time as it becomes applicable. All tickets issued under the scheme will be governed by IATA Reso 850m and 890. It adds that credit Card charge backs will be the sole responsibility of the concerned travel agency.

The credit card surcharge will be INR 300 for economy and premium economy in all domestic flights and INR 350 for business class. In international flights, the charges are INR 799 for economy and premium economy in all short-haul international flights and INR 1199 for business class. For long haul international flights, the charges are INR 999 for economy and premium economy and INR 1299 for business class. The airline says that the credit card surcharge is inclusive of GST and is non-refundable and it is not applicable in case of re-issuance of tickets.
