UK-based Virgin Atlantic airline has announced that it has nominated Shivani Singh Deo as its new Country Manager for India. According to a press statement by the airline, Deo has represented Virgin Atlantic for the past eight years in the role of Marketing and Communications Manager. Prior to Virgin Atlantic, Deo’s career included international market exposure across industries including retail, media and lifestyle.
Virgin Atlantic says Deo has grown its brand presence in India considerably and has led high profile launches such as Mumbai, the second daily Delhi service and the IndiGo codeshare partnership, generating significant PR and media exposure.
The airline adds that Alex McEwan will continue as Country Manager for the region until the end of 2023, providing a handover to Deo as she starts her new role as Country Manager from January 1, 2024. Alex will then start a new role as Senior Manager, Asia Pacific in the new year.
The statement adds that Deo’s promotion recognises her strong performance in this role and demonstrates the desire to recognise talent from within the team. The airline says that Deo will lead Virgin Atlantic’s commercial strategy in India at an exciting time, as it grows its India network further in 2024 with the launch of a daily service from London Heathrow to Bengaluru from March 31, 2024.
“I am excited to be taking on this new role at Virgin Atlantic and lead the dynamic team in India. We will continue to champion the needs of the customer and tap the incredible growth opportunities in the Indian market,” says Deo.
