Japan Airlines (JAL), the national carrier of Japan, will be expanding its services to Hong Kong and the United States from this autumn.

In a press statement, JAL, which is also a member of the Oneworld alliance, says that its decision to increase the frequency on a number of routes from late October is in response to a steady increase in travel demand for both business and leisure customers to and from Japan.

JAL highlights that inbound tourism has been flourishing, as a result of a weaker yen. JAL will increase Narita-Hong Kong from three to five flights a week, with effect from October 29.

On the same day, the frequencies on Osaka-Los Angeles route will increase to five times a week, up from the current four flights a week.

JAL says that going to Hawaii, it will offer five flights a week on Osaka-Honolulu from late October, up from four now, and Nagoya-Honolulu will increase to four-weekly services, up from three now.

Moreover, the carrier says that preparations are underway to accept delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000 “flagship” aircraft. JAL says the A350-1000 is currently expected to start operating on Haneda-New York JFK from late November.

The A350-1000 will come with new premium cabins, which JAL says will be revealed shortly.

Separately, JAL says it also is launching new domestic services from Sapporo’s Okadama airport from October 25, including Hokkaido Air System flights between Sapporo (Okadama) and Nemuro Nakashibetsu.

Moreover, Osaka (Itami)-Izumo will increase to five roundtrips a day from October 29, and Osaka (Itami)-Kagoshima will increase to eight roundtrips a day from December 1.
