On January 29, 1819, British East India Company’s administrator Stamford Raffles established the port of Singapore, a small island near the southern tip of Malay peninsula in south-east Asia. With clear vision and timely implementation, Singapore became a tourism hub even before most nations looked at tourism seriously.
