Although famous for its beaches, the island country of Sri Lanka has a variety of other destinations to offer the more curious travellers. One such destination is Kandy where tourists can find a range of activities to enjoy – from the spiritual to the dramatic.

While in Sri Lanka, we make our way by road from Colombo to Kandy. A picturesque route surrounded by mountains leads us to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which is a sacred place of worship and a UNESCO world heritage site since 1988. In the outskirts of Kandy we also visit a spice garden and a tea plantation making for a varied journey. We return to the city and are enthralled by the power-packed traditional fire dance of Kandy known as Gini Sisila.
