Miral, an Abu Dhabi-based state-owned company specialising in the creation of leisure and entertainment destinations, has reported a significant surge in visitors to its entertainment hubs Yas Island and Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, during the summer of 2024.
In a press statement, Miral says that this growth has further positioned the two islands as leading global destinations for family vacations, entertainment and luxury.
The statement adds that Yas Island, renowned for its world-class leisure and entertainment offerings, saw a substantial rise in both domestic and international tourists. It says that the theme parks in Yas Island experienced a 72 pc increase in visitors from GCC countries and a 24 pc rise in arrivals from India.
It says that the island’s hotels recorded an impressive 83 pc occupancy rate throughout the summer, peaking at 90 pc in August 2024, driven by international visitors whose numbers surged by 29 pc compared to the previous year.
Miral says that the combination of thrilling attractions, family-friendly experiences and exclusive promotions has made Yas Island a prime destination for unforgettable summer adventures.
From Yas Theme Parks’ buzzing activities to events at Yas Bay Waterfront, the island remained at the epicentre of entertainment, featuring spectacular fireworks displays, dining experiences and vibrant cultural offerings.
Besides Yas Island, Miral says that its other key destination, Saadiyat Island, which is known for its serene beaches and luxury resorts, also continued to attract international visitors with an occupancy rate of over 65 pc during the summer, rising to 73 pc in August 2024.
The statement says that the island saw a 13 pc increase in hotel occupancy compared to 2023 and an impressive 19 pc growth in international arrivals.
Visitors were drawn to Saadiyat’s pristine beaches, cultural experiences, and eco-friendly attractions, making it a favoured destination for luxury travellers.

The statement adds that to further boost its global appeal, Hollywood actor tar Ryan Reynolds was appointed as Yas Island’s Chief Island Officer (CIO), further amplifying its charm and attraction.
The island also collaborated for the second year with the legendary Miami Band, releasing a summer version of their hit song ‘Aachaw,’ which quickly gained popularity across the GCC.
Miral says that Yas Island’s dynamic offerings, including Yas Mall’s extended shopping hours and exclusive summer promotions, complemented by Saadiyat Island’s luxury appeal, continue to captivate visitors from across the world.
